Do Not Push was written by Kyle Mewburn who loved to write when he was a teenager and he would write until the pen ran out of ink.

Kyle Mewburn was 34 when he became a writer in 1997, he is now 55, and he was born in 1963.

Kyle Mewburn has been busy past these 34 years of writing children’s books and he might be planning to have a holiday very, very soon.

He has written about 30 odd books for kids that are exciting and funny. It is mostly chapter books that he has been writing.

My summary.

There was a boy called Cam, who lived in a town where a forest stayed straight outside their property. He loved to explore.

So one day he asked his Mum if he can go in the forest. Once again she said “yes but you’ve got to be home before dark.”

When he was looking for a simple medium sized pond he found himself slipping down a muddy hill and became unconscious.

When Cam woke up in an uncomfortable position he kept on going, but when he stopped he was staring straight at a mountain edge. Cam then saw something red which he thought was a mushroom but no it wasn’t it was…well…a red button that said underneath DO NOT PUSH, he felt like it wouldn’t hurt if he  just pushed it a little bit when he looked to the side there was a lever that said please pull but he didn’t pull it.

When he got out of the forest he saw his Mum just sitting there, he was wondering what she was eating. “Mum are you eating…well…chocolate ice-cream?”

“Um yeah I am” she said sarcastically.

Then one day Dad gave him his credit card and said that he could buy anything he wants.

From there, there was no rules even throughout the street, and the streets were going bananas, like coo coo. Cam thought that the school would have rules so the next day he went. There the teachers were, in the parking lot playing cricket! One of the teachers even asked him to fetch the ball and he had to do what he was told – he was used to it.

He thought it was just enough,  just seeing all sorts around the place, mostly number twos  from dogs, and rubbish so he went back into the forest and then went to find the lever that said please pull.

When he got there he couldn’t see the green lever and  he thought ‘noo I need to find it!’

He closed his eyes, turned around, then he turned back and there it was. He realised then he ran to pull it.

“That should do it.” It was all back to normal when he got back.

Cam whispered to himself, “you know what, rules aren’t that bad are they?”

Characters in the story.

Cam is the main character in the book. He gets into trouble and all sorts of stuff.

Mum is a nice and clean person until everything goes coo coo.

Dad is simply like Mum but does things a little bit different.

Mrs Grimble is one of the teachers  and she teaches Cam’s class.

Mr Hardman is the principal of the school.

The settings of the book.

The street is where all the craziness happened and where all the action was and it was the main setting.

The forest was the second main setting – it was where Cam pushed the red button and where he got unconscious also when he pulled the green lever.

The rating for the book.

For the rating of this book I would give it about ✳✴✳✴✳✴✳✴(8) out of ✳✴✳✴✳✴✳✴✳✴(10) stars because it has been a very good book to read, but I just think some parts just don’t fit in the story.

This book is probably for kids and adults who have a big imagination.
