WHO ARE WE?

Ko Maunga Tere te Maunga

Our mountain, Maunga Tere (Mount Grey) stands above us;

                                                                                                    Ko Waimakariri, ko Rakahuri ngā Awa

                              Our rivers – the Waimakariri and Rakahuri (the Ashley) – flow below;

Ko Tūāhuriri te Tangata

Tūāhuriri is our ancestor.

This is our mihi. We are the senior students of Ashley School in North Canterbury, South Island, New Zealand. From our school we can see Maunga Tere – Mount Grey, and Rakahuri – Ashley River is just across the road.

Our school has about 160 students, and in the senior school from Years 5-8, we have just over 70 students who work with three teachers each day and several teacher aids.
