Yeshaya has done the 100 Word Challenge this week.

…As I read the contents of the letter, I was aware of the smile on my face…

My report was so fantastic. I turned around and saw amazement on my parents’ faces,

“Well done Yeshaya your first ever report, that is pretty good!” my dad said in astonishment.

I asked my mum how I did – she gave me a little, “meh It’s alright I guess.”

“But mum this is my first ever report that is good!”

“You’re at standard in maths. I wanted you to be ABOVE STANDARD!” she shouted with frustration.

“Maybe next time son,” said my dad sorrowfully.

Jackson’s Quick Write

Curiously the edge of the carpet was pulled back. The young boy bent down to take a closer look. As he looked around to see what else was there, he was suddenly dragged away into the darkness of the night.

He woke up in the morning wondering where he was. The boy had been kidnapped and taken to this weird grassy patch surrounded by trees.

The boy was not familiar with this place or what had happened the night before, but as he lifted his hand in the air, he could see two big punctures in the shape of sharp teeth on his wrist…

LEVI’S TIME AT STAND

From the 27 of April till the 24 of May I attended a camp named STAND. I don’t know if  many people would know what it is about so I might as well tell you. STAND’s goal is to transform the lives of children and young people who are at significant risk of harm to their wellbeing.

For the sleeping arrangements there there were 3 whare’s named; Marama, White and Kahu. I  was in Marama. One thing that sucked was that the beds were really hard and it would take a while to get to sleep but after a while you would get used to it. Another thing that sucked was that a lot of the kids would try stay up all night and they would make so much noise that you wouldn’t be able to go to sleep until about 12 o’clock.

Some good things about the whares were that they had their own kitchen and when we’re allowed to we could have toast for supper at night. They had their own lounge which meant that we could sit on a couch and even watch movies at night when we were allowed to.

Personally I think that the food was amazing throughout the whole day. The reason that I think that the food was amazing was that we had things that we wouldn’t have at our home like sausage sizzles and lasagne and more. One of my favourite dishes of food that we had would have to be hot dogs. I liked hot dogs the best because we could have as many as we wanted. Personally I had about 5 or more every time because they were so good. One thing that was good was that they would make us play first so that we were really hungry by the end of play.

One of my favourite activities that I did throughout my stay was going ice skating. The reason that I really liked ice skating the best was that one of the staff, James would put ice down peoples back and it would be really funny to watch because they would go nuts. Another thing that was really funny that happened on the night we were skating, was that they were doing a game of Spin the Bottle and there was a guy who was drunk. We got told to move to the side but this guy didn’t and he was trying to skate around and as soon as he got up he would fall back over until the security kicked him out and that was pretty funny.

Over all I had a great time at STAND and personally I really enjoyed it.
